Whether your child is seeking purpose, work experience, academic credits, or a life adventure, there’s gap year experience that will fit the bill.
A gap year is a structured experience between high school graduation and college. Though called a gap year, these experiences may vary in length from a month to a year or more. Some students defer college acceptance to have a gap year experience, while others decide to hold off on college plans until they feel they have a better grasp on what area of study they will pursue.
Gap year programs allow students to gain focus, purpose and awareness so that they are well-equipped to excel throughout their college years.
Gap year program options include:
- Study abroad
- Community service projects
- Internships or work experience
- Taking classes to improve academic record or help refine interests
- A combination of the above elements
Our advisors can help you and your child determine whether or not a gap year is the right choice. If it is, we will then explore opportunities based on your child’s goals, abilities, and interests so that he or she can make the most of a gap year experience.
